We have a designated Clinic which is laid out to maximise the safe administration of medications. It also offers residents the privacy they will require when discussing medication issues with our staff team.
Medication plays a large part in the health and wellbeing of residents. Residents are, where appropriate, risk assessed for their ability to self-medicate. Where self-medication is not possible, residents are supported to be as involved as possible in their medication taking process.
When a resident is self-medicating, their ability to do so is regularly reviewed and their medication support plan updated:
Medication on the premises is administered by our trained shift leaders (support workers) and staff are also trained in administering To Take Out Medication (TTO). We have clear guidance and policy around this process. Staff are tested on their comprehension of the policy and the test results updated on their professional portfolio file.
