Anxiety Disorders

Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life, and some people find it hard to control their worries.  Their feelings of anxiety are more constant and can often affect their daily life.  There are many different types of anxiety disorder as listed below

  • Agoraphobia
  • Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)
  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Hair pulling (Trichotillomania)
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) (see separate page)
  • Panic disorder (panic attacks)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Skin picking
  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Toilet-related anxiety

It is common to have other conditions such as depression or other anxiety disorders if you have GAD.  People with this disorder feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they relaxed.  GAD can cause both psychological and physical symptoms.
